ONE YEAR - How it started, what I am learning, and what's next!

“I have no idea what I am doing!” A thought that crossed my mind a few times that 1st month.... Okay, let’s be honest, that thought repeated itself, along with “I am not there yet” , “What’s my purpose?!”, “Why?”, and “How?”  to name a few others.

They are straight
right? ;)

Starting my own business in 2020 wasn’t planned or even on my radar. How was I supposed to do this after just moving back to NC, still in a post surgical funk with my own fitness, trying to finish my latest educational certification, and the only gym I knew recently closed its doors…. oh and do I need to mention all while in the middle of a pandemic?!?

The OPEX Team that got me
started!

I will add that I know while I was struggling with my life’s purpose others were struggling with illness, lost jobs, relational struggles, and financial burdens they never saw coming, so please know that I am extremely grateful for all that came my    way … it just took me some time to navigate.

CCP Certificate of
Completion

Aside from those hows and whys I pondered over, I was presented with an opportunity to help serve others while personally growing in the coaching profession. I decided to go all in. The plan was to commit for 1 year, then reevaluate.

I filed for an LLC, took WAY too long to decide on a name, paid some fees, hired a talented entrepreneur to design a website +  logo, and graduated with my OPEX CCP Certificate!

When I encourage others to try new habits, give themselves grace, to trust the process, to find “white space” and slow down a bit, I am right there with you!

The Man that keeps
me grounded and encourages
me on my endeavors.

Did I start perfectly? Probably not. Am I doing it perfectly? Probably not. But I have learned so much and pray that God will continue to guide me in the right direction and that my focus will continue to align with His desire and will for my life. I was reminded by a fellow coach recently that we learn as we go. We will never have all of the “right answers”, but we do the best we can with what we currently know and the abilities and resources we have.

Top lesson’s I have learned:

  • I cared a little too much early on. Don’t get me wrong, I still do! BUT I had to learn that there has to be a balance or else I would be doing my clients a disservice as well as being too hard on myself.

  • Boundaries are important! I have a hard time keeping MY own boundaries.

  • I value clear communication.

  • There will always be more to do, but it doesn’t have to all be done that day.. Ya know, like that whole Rome thing ;).

  • Scheduling, routines, and rhythms are important!

What I want to refine:

  • That whole schedule thing ;).

  • Balancing my role as a Remote Coach and a Group and Nutrition Coach at TCF.

  • Confidence.

  • Simplicity - you may notice I took down my website. Hopefully I can use this platform to still bring value!

Vision for the Future

  • Further Education - next up, AZ in August! Suuuuuper excited about this opportunity! Stay tuned!! And a Nutrition certification by Next June.

  • Frequent collaboration with like-minded Coaching professionals

  • Having a bigger impact within TCF in the area of Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching

So, to the remaining months of 2021... let’s do this with more confidence, clarity, and grace.

What did YOU start scared in 2020?

What are you afraid to start now that you are feeling called to do?

“We live by faith and not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; don’t rely on your own intelligence. Know him in all your paths, and he will keep your ways straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

“Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see.” — Hebrews 11:1

“Commit your way to the Lord! Trust him! He will act.” — Psalm 37:5

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” — James 1:2-4
